Does Mr. Golden Sun Shine in Israel?

What's up Reader,

Welcome back to the Chakkalo.com Newsletter. I hope this week has been fruitful and exciting for you! Let's dive in.

  1. This week in Israel/Anti-Semitism
  2. Mr. SunShine vs. Mr. Golden Sun

As a Jew in America, it's not easy.

As I write this, people in Philadelphia targeted a Jewish owned Falafel shop effectively shutting him down. This was an act that the Gov. Josh Shapiro (D-Pen) called anti-Semitic.

He hit the nail on the head. When else did we see mobs deface Jewish owned businesses?

Last week, Senator Schumer gave a passionate speech on anti-Semitism in the United States. It was something that was needed, especially because, as he put it, he's the highest elected Jew is American history.

Of course since I like to be thought provoking, here's one for you guys. Let me offer an alternative perspective to viewing the prior.

The store owner is Israeli and might have introduced politics into the workplace. See this post by a former Goldie employee:

Goldie fired me & a coworker for supporting Palestine. They raised money for an organization that claims to be neutral but in fact materially supports the IDF & its war crimes. It’s not a random Jewish restaurant & these protestors rule & should keep up the pressure ❤️ 🇵🇸

So pressuring Goldie may just be the public discourse and the dialogue of what values the business embodies playing itself out.

What do you think there? Reply to this email or tweet @ me. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Critiquing Senator Schumer's speech, I will paint the picture many extreme leftists do to the talking points Schumer hit on:

Schumer is playing the victim card, conflating anti-Semitism with anti-Zionism. Violence against Jews should never be tolerated. But repression and disruption of Zionist ideas in any way shape or form is a moral obligation.

2. Mr. Sun(shine State) vs. Mr Golden (State)

I know, I wanted to somehow play off the Mr. Sun/Mr. Golden Sun terminology. Maybe I'll think of the right ChatGPT prompt to make it smoother in this email next time 😂.

Anyways, I put this out right as the debate went to a close.

But I maintain a thought I had since the debate. Why did the "moderator," Sean Hannity, only present charts and facts that showed Republican-led Florida in a positive light?

I don't really have much else to cover on this debate. But I can definitely lay the rest of it out for you. How does that sound? Again, feel free to reply and let me know!

But it was nice to see two starkly different and opposing figures go head to head. What did you guys think? Was it a waste of your time? Do you know there's a GOP presidential debate this week?

I invite dialogue. Reply to this email, let me know your thoughts. Disagree, compliment, or insult me. All is welcomed!

No one knows anything. Keep learning. Stay curious. Never stop questioning.

Thank you again for joining Marketplace of Ideas (what I'm calling this for now). I look forward to embarking on this exciting journey with you!

To an independent-thinking, knowledge-seeking, and skeptical you.

To: Reader Let me say this clearly. This is a gamble. It is a gamble for President Trump. It is a gamble for Prime Minister Netanyahu. It is a gamble for the Iranian regime. And frankly, it is a gamble for the American political system itself. And I support the strikes. Not emotionally. Not reflexively. Not because I enjoy escalation. I support them because the alternative was not stability. The alternative was slow drift toward a worse outcome. Before we get into the geopolitics, let’s talk...

To: Reader Everyone who watched Smerconish this weekend knows exactly what I’m talking about. I asked ChatGPT to draw a caricature of me using everything it knows about me. And it did. It was funny. It was sharp. It was weirdly accurate. And then it hit me. Why was it able to do that? The Nest footage. The subscription confusion. The question that won’t go away. Are these companies actually deleting what they say they’re deleting? I have been obsessed with privacy since I was a teenager. Not in...

To: Reader Hey everyone, I just finished recording this week’s pre-recorded episode. The video centers on the arrest of Don Lemon, but not in the way most coverage has handled it. I’m not interested in litigating whether you like Don Lemon, agree with Don Lemon, or think Don Lemon has ever been fair to people you care about. That’s not the point. What is the point is how the federal government arrested him. Here’s the part that stopped me in my tracks: Two federal judges reportedly looked at...
