Trump Has No Business Preaching on Judaism

Hey Reader, Yesterday, Netanyahu addressed a joint session of Congress (you can catch my livestream here). Tomorrow, Trump is meeting Netanyahu. A few months ago, I felt compelled to speak out when President Trump declared that "any Jewish person that votes for Democrats hates their religion." While I agree Trump did great things for Jewish Americans, this part of Trump is now new. This rhetoric degraded Jews' wellbeing in America. Trump, aimed at further fracturing our already polarized nation for personal gain, is simply unacceptable.
As an independent thinker and proud member of the Jewish faith, I firmly believe that no one, not even the President of the United States, has the right to dictate how we should vote based on our religious beliefs. Our votes, our beliefs, and our faith are personal matters that should remain free from political manipulation. The beauty of America lies in our freedom to critically analyze information from various sources and make informed decisions about what is best for our future. When we cast our ballots, we do so with the hope of creating a better tomorrow for our nation, not because of blind allegiance to any particular party or individual. It is crucial to remember that both Democrats and Republicans have their moments of being right and wrong. No single party or person holds a monopoly on truth simply because they claim to. As Jews, our religious tradition is rooted in questioning, critical thinking, and independent review of sources. Even God, as depicted in the Bible, is not beyond the scope of human challenge. While historically, the Jewish community has leaned towards the Democratic party, this support should not be taken for granted. Democrats must continue to earn the trust and votes of Jewish Americans, just as Republicans must do the same. The rise of extremism within the Democratic party, which has made it increasingly difficult for Jews to live their lives and for Israel to coexist peacefully with its neighbors, is a concerning trend that must be addressed. In conclusion, I urge all Americans, regardless of your faith or political affiliation continue to think critically, evaluate information objectively, and vote in a manner that aligns with our individual beliefs and values.
